The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has prepared and made available free of charge a new version of its electronic publication, Modern Radiology eBook. It is a modern and comprehensive resource in contemporary radiology. Compared to the first edition published two years ago, the current version has been expanded, updated and redesigned as a modern, interactive e-book featuring images, diagrams, videos and hyperlinks, presenting the content in an accessible and visual manner.
The expanded eBook contains 30 chapters covering key topics in radiology. The chapter on radiation protection discusses, among other things: the basic physical properties of ionising radiation and its effects on the human body, radiological quantities and units, example dose levels for various imaging examinations, and the fundamental principles of radiation protection, as well as current guidelines on their application.
