June 1-2, 2026 – XVII National Conference “Ionising Radiation in Medicine” PJOMED 2026

17th edition of the National Conference “Ionising Radiation in Medicine” PJOMED 2026, organised by the National Centre for Radiation Protection in Health Care, will be held on June 1-2, 2026, as a hybrid event: at the Alfred Biedermann’s Palace in Łódź and online on the web platform.
This year’s edition of the Conference will focus specifically on the optimisation of patient exposure during interventional radiology procedures. The opening addresses will focus on the roles of the State Sanitary Inspection and the Military Sanitary Inspection in the field of public health. In addition, topics related to the implementation of the POL9029 project, conducted by the National Centre for Radiological Protection in Health Care as part of the Technical Cooperation Programme of the International Atomic Energy Agency, will be discussed. This project aims to strengthen the role of optimising radiation protection in the practice of interventional radiology through practical training of IR specialists to expand their knowledge, skills and qualifications so that radiation protection for both patients and staff become an integral part of good medical practice. A separate thematic block will be dedicated to artificial intelligence in medicine, both in the context of implementing the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 June 2024 (AI Act) and in the broader context of cybersecurity. The topics of medical exposure (risks to patients) and occupational exposure of staff will also be discussed. Focused on strengthening radiation protection in healthcare, the conference will also cover quality control issues, presenting, among others, preliminary proposals for changes in performance testing of radiological and ancillary equipment.
